Two women accused of arson in Sant’Angelo Romano

Two women, one resident in Sant’Angelo Romano and the other in Guidonia Montecelio, were reported to the Tivoli Public Prosecutor’s Office for complicit arson. The investigations by the Carabinieri of the Tivoli Company and the local station have brought to light a disturbing scenario of resentment and revenge.

Between January and March of this year, three fires occurred in Sant’Angelo Romano, a small town of less than 5,000 inhabitants on the outskirts of Rome, which destroyed nine cars and damaged some city infrastructure. One of the fires caused gas to leak from a pipe, forcing the evacuation of nearby homes.

The Carabinieri investigations made it possible to reconstruct the dynamics of the fires and identify the two responsible. The woman resident in Sant’Angelo Romano, moved by resentment towards her husband from whom she was separating, allegedly commissioned her friend resident in Guidonia Montecelio to burn his cars.

The executor apparently acted on her friend’s orders, setting fire to her husband’s nine cars in three separate episodes. The evidence collected by the Carabinieri, including testimonies, images from surveillance cameras and scientific investigations, framed the two women.

The two accused, seriously suspected of committing the crime of arson in conspiracy, were referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Tivoli. Now they will have to answer to justice for their actions, which put the safety of the citizens of Sant’Angelo Romano at risk and created a climate of terror in a small, quiet town.
