40 degrees expected and the fire alert goes up

Week of scorching heat arriving in Sciacca and throughout the province. The fire alert also rises

Scattered rain, gray skies and few umbrellas at the seaside this weekend, but a change in temperature is expected during the week that has just begun. A dramatic increase that will even lead to highs of 40 degrees. This is the scenario that awaits the Sciacca area and surrounding areas, practically the entire province of Agrigento, next week.

The actual start of summer will coincide with a wave of heat in Sicily, due to the arrival of the African anticyclone with constantly rising temperatures and clear skies this time. Finally, the peak is expected over the weekend with minimums that will not fall below 25 degrees on average, but in the Sicilian hinterland, maximums of 40 degrees are also expected. On the coast, temperatures will be milder.

In Palermo and Agrigento between 34 and 39 degrees are expected, but Catania and Messina will also record record highs, between 34 and 37 degrees.

The fire alert goes up

The Civil Protection has already issued the warning, last week, for the incoming heat waves. There will have been a pre-alert in the Region, with the authorities starting fire prevention in advance, seen when it happened in the summer of 2023.

The municipalities will have to act, as indicated by the Civil Protection, especially together with private individuals, as well as with street cleaning and securing the most at-risk areas.
