Valter Pusceddu on Uan King wins the Palio dei Terzieri of Castiglion Fiorentino for the Porta Fiorentina district. For bighinothis is the nickname, it is the eighth victory in the tuff ring of Piazza Garibaldi, for the mare it is the third consecutive success.
Bighino, after the disappointment of the Palio di Fucecchio just under a month ago, where he was credited as a possible winner for the Cappiano district, then roared back in the late afternoon today (June 16th) with an impeccable race that started in the lead when the rope was lowered and ended almost hands down.
Four laps of the track without any particular problems, well protected by his local companion, Silvano Mulas on Abracadabra, who managed to keep his rivals at bay. The two arrived almost paired at the flag, demonstrating a superiority that seemed impeccable. At the prize of the tertieri each district races with two pairs of jockeys and horses. However, it was not an easy career, at least at the beginning.
It took the mover Gennaro Milone eight false starts before he managed, a few minutes after 20, to find the right alignment from which team this time was the most reactive to get out of the ropes and complete yet another victory. On Saturday 15th, as per tradition, the Giuseppe Gentili Memorial took place in the same location, always involving the three districts (Cassero, Porta Romana, Porta Fiorentina) with a single pair of jockeys and horses. The so-called “frontal” because it is reserved for young jockeys was won by Porta Fiorentina with the crew composed of Federico Fabbri and Vankook. The young winner was presented with a plaque by the Association of owners, trainers and breeders of Palio horses.
The delivery was made by Denise Cei from Fucecchio, former captain of the Contrada Torre di Fucecchio, and member of the association.
