Law and justice in Italy, Anpi meeting in Le Grazie

An opportunity for in-depth study for all history and law enthusiasts. A meeting entitled “Law and Justice in Italy in the period 1922-1950” will be held on Thursday 21 June at 9pm at the Sala Esperia in Via Libertà 109 in Le Grazie. The event will feature Vinicio Ceccarini, a well-known expert and scholar on the subject, as speaker. The initiative will offer a detailed overview of the regulations and reforms that characterized one of the most complex and controversial periods in Italian history. The speaker will initially illustrate the Albertine Statute, the constitution granted by Charles Albert of Savoy in 1848, and its evolution during the fascist era.

Among the main topics covered, we will talk about the Royal Decree Law (RDL) of 24 December 1923, n. 2263, which redefined the duties and prerogatives of the Head of Government. The law of 31 January 1925, n. will also be examined. 109, which gave the executive power the power to issue legal regulations, and the law of 4 February 1926, n. 237, which established the figure of the Podestà and the municipal council in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, later extended to all municipalities. Particular attention will also be paid to the law of 25 November 1926, n. 2008, with the provisions for the defense of the State, and the new legal codification introduced during the fascist regime. The role of the Grand Council of fascism and the racial laws, which marked one of the darkest pages in Italian history, will also be discussed.

The meeting is promoted by the Anpi section of Porto Venere and promises to be a moment of reflection and in-depth analysis, useful not only for scholars and history enthusiasts, but also for all those who wish to better understand the historical and legal roots of Contemporary Italy. Entrance is free and open to all.
