Palazzo Ducale and its construction sites: a public meeting open to all to take stock of the works. The appointment is for Wednesday 19 June 2024 at 5.30 pm in the Archers’ Atrium.
Palazzo Ducale, three years of construction
From three years, Palazzo Ducale to Mantua is the protagonist of one campaign of work of extraordinary intensitysimilar to the historical one undertaken by Clinio Cottafavi in the twenties and thirties of the twentieth century. Interventions include seismic and structural improvements, refunctionalizations, restorations and the opening of new areas of the monument.
These jobs, partially planned since 2012 after the earthquakerequire careful strategic and design choices, as well as reflections on intervention methodologies and the management of daily difficulties and interferences.
Historically, the fervor of construction sites was a symbol of good governance and well-being. Today, not only the major interventions on the Doge’s Palace they improve the conservative conditions of the building, but also offer job opportunitiesaccompanied by constant maintenance activity.
Meeting open to the public
For account for the work done and the commitment to the protection and conservation of the monument, Palazzo Ducale organizes a public meeting Wednesday 19 June 2024 at 5.30 pm, in the Archers’ Atrium. The event is open to all: from the curious to those who have perplexities or doubts about the choices and strategies, to professionals and anyone who follows the fate of the Palazzo Ducale with interest or wishes to start doing so.
The meeting will be introduced and conducted by the journalist Stefano Scansani, with the participation of the architect Antonio Giovanni Mazzeri, responsible for most of the ongoing interventions, e Stefano L’Occasodirector of the Museum.
This will be a unique opportunity for explore the Museum “under the knife” and to discover the future prospects of the Doge’s Palace.
