A 39-year-old resident of Viterbo and involved in canyoning activities was recovered in the early afternoon of today by a team of the Teramo firefighters after being injured in the Fossaceca Gorge area, in the municipal area of ​​Isola del Gran Sasso. The woman, after a fall that caused her to sprain her ankle, needed help. Once they received the call from the emergency number 112, the firefighters sent an operational team and requested the intervention of the helicopter from the Pescara flight department, while the 118 center sent an ambulance to the square of the sanctuary of San Gabriele .

The fire brigade helicopter went to the site of the intervention and, as soon as it identified the hiker, it sent an air rescuer down between the walls of the stream who reached her. Once harnessed, the 39-year-old was winched on board and transported to the San Gabriele square, where she was transferred to an ambulance and finally transferred to the Mazzini hospital in Teramo.
