Two doctors are under investigation for the death of one girl of two years, which occurred between the night of 10 and 11 June, inside the Beauregard hospital in Aosta. The little girl had been taken to hospital by her mother and father due to an ailment, but the paediatricians deemed it appropriate to send her back to her home because she was “in good condition”. Then the rush to the emergency room on Monday afternoon because the little girl hadn’t felt well. The ailment had not completely resolved. She was therefore kept under observation in the health facility, where she suddenly worsened and died at three in the morning.

The investigations

The causes of the little girl’s death are still unknown. Based on initial findings, two pediatricians would have had a specific role in managing the case. But it is possible that other doctors are also under investigation. With the notice of guarantee, at this stage they will be able to participate with their consultants in the autopsy ordered by the prosecutor’s office, and scheduled for next Monday, to shed light on the causes of death. The alleged crime for those responsible is manslaughter.
