From firefighters to architects, a conference dedicated to fire in Baita Magrera

Nature, Art and Habitat (NAHR) is pleased to announce the multidisciplinary workshopFIRE: Renewal, Rituals, Power“, which will be held from 7 to 9 June 2024 near the suggestive setting of the Baita Magrera, located in the splendid Val Taleggio. The workshop, free and open to all, aims to explore the theme of fire in its many facets, offering a unique opportunity for reflection and comparison between different disciplines.

The workshops involve both local professionals such as, for example Roberto Fiorona, Contact person and manager. Forest fire prevention service – Brembana Valley Mountain Community which will talk about ‘Forest fires and extinction operations’, Elena StevanatoLandscape architect who will illustrate ‘Circular economies that are “hot”: the story of a stove and two families in the Lombardy Prealps’, which as international as Ozan ZeybekGeographer, University of Berlin ‘Igniting radical change: Reimagining political action’, among many others.

With presentations, round tables, and a visit to the ‘poiat’ (a traditional structure, now disused, which was used for the production of charcoal), the workshop will delve into the natural, ecological, social, political and ecosystemic perspectives of fire. Through a structured program, participants will have the opportunity to explore the crucial role of fire in the surrounding environment, as well as its implications on wildlife, air quality and the natural and built ecosystem.



Particular emphasis will be placed on art and empathy as tools to promote positive change towards a more sustainable world. The interventions of artists and cultural promoters will offer innovative ideas on how to integrate empathic practices in the approach to the theme of fire, transforming art itself into a vehicle for environmental awareness. During Saturday evening the new book from NAHR “Aspects of Coexistence: Investigations into Nature, Art & Habitat” and to follow a aperitif open to allin Sottochiesa.

On Sunday after lunch, twenty selected images of the cphotography competition and drawing “Chimneys and chimneys on display”. The rich and diverse program of the “FIRE: Renewal, Rituals, Power” workshop, thanks to the participation of many individuals and supporting bodies, represents a unique opportunity for learning, exchange and inspiration for all those involved in interdisciplinary research and action for sustainability.
