Every day an average of 700 trucks in the center of Demonte. A situation that the inhabitants have been enduring and enduring for years, including protests, appeals, promises and commitments. For the entire Stura valley it is a problem that does not seem to be resolved. It all depends on the bureaucracy and the dispute between three ministries who are arguing with each other to give the green light to the variant. Everyone hopes that the tender for the Demonte ring road will be launched by the end of the year.
While waiting for the start of the works, here is something new that has been announced for some time, but never realised: the other morning the operations to install the traffic lights at the entrance and exit from the town began. So from the end of the month traffic in the center of Deomnte will be one-way alternating.
The traffic lights – at a cost of 140 thousand euros – are planned at Piazza Renzo Spada for those arriving from the upper Stura valley and immediately after the bridge along the climb on the state road towards the center of the town for traffic coming from the plain.
