Unfortunately, in Milan there are many cases of cyclists killed by being hit by a heavy vehicle: last August a 28-year-old girl died in Piazzale Medaglie d’Oro in the Porta Romana area of Milan. The young woman would have been hit while she, as well as the truck, had turned left at an intersection: she would have been hit by the heavy vehicle probably because she ended up in the driver’s blind spot who therefore would not have seen her. A few weeks earlier another cyclist had died in the same way: the truck driver, not noticing the man, dragged him for 300 metres. These are just two cases that occurred last year.
