Attempted massacre in the ex’s house, a 53-year-old arrested

After attempting to cause an explosion, a man was arrested in Palermo thanks to the intervention of the Carabinieri and the Fire Brigade.

A dramatic episode of domestic violence turned into a potential act of massacre in Palermo, where a 53-year-old Romanian man was arrested after trying to blow up his ex-wife’s house.

The Carabinieri of the Palermo Piazza Verdi Company carried out a precautionary custody order in prison, issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation, conducted by the soldiers of the Brancaccio station, revealed a disturbing picture. The man, already known to the authorities for previous episodes of mistreatment in the family, had illegally entered the apartment located in via Oreto in December 2022. Once inside, he barricaded himself and cut three gas pipes connected to cylinders, intending to cause an explosion.

Fortunately, the timely intervention of the Carabinieri and the support of the Fire Brigade averted a tragedy. The authorities managed to stop the man before he could cause irreparable damage, arresting him on the spot and ensuring the safety of the entire building.

The arrested person is now detained at the “Pietro Cerulli” prison in Trapani, awaiting further legal proceedings. This case once again raises critical questions about home safety and the protection of victims of family violence.

This incident is a sad reminder of the importance of preventive measures and rapid intervention by law enforcement to prevent acts of violence that could turn into catastrophes. The community of Palermo remains alert, and the decisive action of the local authorities strengthens the commitment to security and justice.
