Milan, 14 June 2024 – The fire in the garage on the ground floor of the building. A sudden flare-up, for reasons yet to be ascertained. Almost all the residents present at that moment, a few minutes after 7pm yesterday, managed to leave the building. Three remain trapped in a third-floor apartment, probably stunned by the toxic fumes. The firefighters will find them lifeless inside the house: it is a family of father, mother and son. Silvano Tollardo aged 66 (he would have turned 67 on 30 August), his wife Carolina De Luca, 63, and his son Antonio, 34 (just turned 1 June). Help too the workshop employee, who was taken to hospital for his injuries. And four more people are remained intoxicated.
And this the dramatic toll of the fire broke out last night in via Fra Galgario 8, where a mechanic has his office. An initial reconstruction yet to be confirmed says that the flames started later replacing a muffler. The owner tried to put them out with a fire extinguisher, but failed. The 112 alarm generated the immediate intervention of a first team of firefighters from the Via Sardegna detachment, followed closely by seven other crews aided by the operations center in via Messina and by the specialists of the fire investigation unit and the judicial police unit who will handle the investigations. The fire completely destroyed the workshop, causing black smoke visible several kilometers away. The timeliness of the intervention allowed the firefighters to contain the fire, thus avoiding it the tongues of fire reached the upper floors of the condominium. Unfortunately, however, the three who were later found lifeless were unable to leave the house, remaining trapped with no escape.
