The victims were inside an apartment on the third floor of the building where the fire took place. The flames broke out around 7pm from a garage in via Fra Galgario 8, in the Gambara area of Milan, and then reached the first three floors of the condominium, which was evacuated. The firefighters intervened to put out the fire and make the area safe, together with a team from the via Sardegna detachment and other units sent to support from the operations center in via Messina. According to what the Milan firefighters report, the toll is three dead and three injured. The victims would be an elderly woman, an Italian citizen and another person of foreign origins. Among the injured was also an employee of the workshop from which the flames started.
The injured
A fourth person was saved by rescuers. One of the injured was taken under yellow code to the Polyclinic for burns. The other two – says the regional emergency emergency company of Lombardy – are green codes and for them the possible transport to hospital has yet to be decided. Three medical vehicles and six ambulances were on site. Fire brigade teams are busy clearing the area.
