Meeting today in Rome between the president of the 5 Star Movement Giuseppe Conte and the founder Beppe Grillo. President Conte left the Forum hotel around 3.30pm after a lunch on the terrace with the Movement’s guarantor which lasted just over an hour.
The former prime minister had been seen entering the hotel just before 2.00 pm, while the founder of the Movement had arrived half an hour earlier.
M5s treasurer meets Grillo, ‘Beppe for direct democracy’
“As always with Beppe we talk about topics. He is a visionary. Meeting him is always a pleasure.” This was declared by the treasurer of the 5 Star Movement Claudio Cominardi after more than an hour and a half meeting at the Forum hotel with the M5s guarantor Beppe Grillo.
To those who ask what the founder’s opinion is on the abolition of the two-term limit, Cominardi replies: “he goes further, he always flies high. We talked about themes and vision. He doesn’t stop at the single result of the electoral rounds, where the Movement has always undergone ups and downs.
To those who ask what themes Grillo has relaunched, Cominardi replies: “the issue of direct democracy, of participatory tools at every level, of starting from the municipalities was addressed”. “We didn’t talk about the past – he adds – but only about the future. Beppe goes beyond the electoral results, he doesn’t judge. His gaze is projected towards twenty or thirty years. In the symbol we have the writing 2050. And I hope that remain that.”
