“Fiorentina, urgent appeal for Franchi. The Municipality remains silent about the company under investigation”

Fiorentina has lodged an urgent appeal to halt renovation work on the Franchi stadium, citing significant economic damage. The club’s general director, Alessandro Ferrari, explained that reducing the stadium’s capacity to 22,000 spectators for the 2024-25 season would result in revenue losses of between 9 and 13 million euros. Additionally, the agreement with the stadium will expire in May 2025, leaving it uncertain where the team will play next. The stadium upgrade is not fully funded, increasing the risk of unfinished work.

In the midst of this fuss, the precautionary measure against Cobar (Costruzioni Barozzi spa), the Bari-based company leader of the temporary grouping which, together with the Sac of Rome, was awarded the contract for the works at Franchi, was inserted. The Salerno investigating judge banned Cobar for a year, with a ban on contracting with the public administration. The measure dates back to the end of May and came as part of the investigation into the procurement works for the new Citadel of Justice in Salerno in which prosecutors hypothesize accusations of illicit subcontracting, fraud in public supplies against five people including Vito Matteo Barozzi, 66 years old, legal representative of Cobar.

From Palazzo Vecchio they explain that the Municipality has no intention of taking self-protection measures, since being a precautionary measure (the one ordered by the Salerno court) there are no reasons, to date, to suspend or slow down the works, also taking into account the fact that the disqualification measure was challenged by the company at the Court of Review. In Naples, however, they don’t think like they do in Florence, so much so that last June 11 the contracts awarded to Cobar in the Campania capital were suspended and, on the recommendation of the municipal attorney’s office, the procedure for terminating the contract will begin. He writes it Corriere Fiorentino.
