In Court in Bari, in front of the judge Nicola Bonantefollowing the preliminary hearing he agreed to a sentence of 1 and 4 months – with conditional suspension – Alessandro Sassonea 30-year-old from Valenzano convicted of vehicular homicide for having caused the accident that cost the life of just 25 years old Gianluca De Franciscisof Casamassima, on 2 March 2023 in the industrial area of Capurso.
The motorist, entering the main road from a small road that led to a company – explains Studio 3A, which assisted the victim’s family – would have cut the path of the victim who was arriving on a motorbike. To the accused, immediately registered in the register of suspects by the prosecutor Manfredi Dini Ciaccithe additional administrative sanction of suspension of the driving license for one year was also imposed.
The deputy prosecutor, who at the end of the preliminary investigations requested that Sassone be sent to trial, accused the driver of the car, a Peugeot 308, of having caused the motorcyclist’s death “through negligence, imprudence and violation of the rules which regulate road traffic and in particular article 145 of the Highway Code, which imposes the obligation to give priority to those coming from the right, and article 154, which requires, when making a turn, to ensure that carry out the maneuver without creating an obstacle or danger for other road users”.
The 30-year-old – who had a 4-year-old son – was thrown from his motorbike and after a tragic 12-metre flight he ended up against a public lighting pole, before falling lifeless to the ground: the helmet he regularly wore was not enough: it died practically instantly, the multiple traumas reported were too serious.

Hence the request for indictment made by the prosecutor against the accused who at the preliminary hearing requested and obtained a plea bargain of 1 year and 4 months.
