CORREGGIO (Reggio Emilia) – Will be inaugurated today at 6pm, in Correggio, the new residential structure “Casa Saman”place ofreception and support for minors in situations of severe mental and/or psychological distress managed by the social cooperative L’Ovile. The inauguration will be attended by, among others, the president of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini, the Prefect of Reggio, Maria Rita Cocciufa, the president of the Province, Giorgio Zanni, the mayor of Correggio, Fabio Testi, and the director of the Department of Mental Health of the Local Health Authority of Reggio Emilia, Gian Maria Galeazzi. “Casa Saman” can accommodate up to 9 minors and is located in via San Martino 9. A place of care and support, therefore, but also a tool that will allow children to maintain a deep-rooted bond with the territory of origin, its services , its resources and support networks.
The house is named after Saman Abbas, the 18-year-old girl for whose murder her parents were sentenced to life imprisonment in the first instance. Just yesterday the prosecutor’s office filed the appeal. The chief prosecutor Calogero Gaetano Paci aims to do so recognize aggravating falls against all five of the girl’s family members: premeditation and futile motives. In this case, uncle Danish Hasnain, sentenced to 14 years in the first instance, could have a more severe sentence. The two cousins however were acquitted.
