Sardinia shines in gold

Italy. The extraordinary performance of the men’s 4×100 relay gave Italy a triumphant conclusion to the European Athletics Championships. An exceptional result, characterized by the stellar performance of our sprinters who dominated the race, leaving a void behind them.

At the starting blocks, Matteo Melluzzo defended his position brilliantly, allowing Italy to maintain the pace of the opening stages. In the second half, Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs ignited the powder, burning his opponents with impressive speed.

But the real highlight for Sardinia was Lorenzo Patta, originally from Oristano, who faced and overcame the curve with mastery. Finally, in the last fraction, Filippo Tortu of Gallura origins further increased the advantage, bringing the Italian relay to the finish line with an amazing time of 37″82. The distance between the Azzurri and the second classified was abysmal. The Netherlands closed with a time of 38″46, followed by Germany with 38″52. A performance by the Italians that will remain in history, thanks also to the perfection of the changes, which allowed our athletes not to lose even a thousandth of a precious second.

This gold in the men’s 4×100 relay was the icing on the cake of a European expedition that saw Italy excel like never before. With a haul of 24 medals, 11 of which were gold, the Azzurri set a new record, placing themselves in first place in the medal table for the first time. A historic achievement that fills the entire nation with pride and honors the efforts and sacrifices of our athletes.

Sardinia can be particularly proud of this success, having contributed significantly with the extraordinary performance of Lorenzo Patta. This victory is not only a medal for Italy, but also a symbol of unity and talent distributed throughout the national territory, from the islands to the mainland. The celebration for this extraordinary success is only just beginning, and our athletes deserve to be celebrated for having brought Italy’s name to the top of Europe. A page of sporting history has been written, and now all that remains is to look to the future with enthusiasm, certain that the emotions and successes do not end here.
