On Wednesday 12 June, vehicles remained stranded on roads that turned into rivers across the Florida southern, including those around Fort Lauderdale and Miami, due to a deluge over the area. They have been reported floods spread due to a tropical rain stormwith some of the worst conditions north of Miami, where a rare was issued flash flood emergency from the National Weather Service, which reported a “particularly dangerous situation”.

As of 4.30pm local time, they fell further 400mm of rain in Hollywood and Hallandale Beach, according to AccuWeather/Ambient Weather stations. This is almost the double than the historical average of rainfall for all of June and well above the 303mm that fell in the area from January to May. Among the most relevant rainfall data reported by Accuweather, there are: 435mm in Hollywood, 433mm at Hallandale Beach, 427mm in Aventura, 364mm at Dania Beach, 321mm at Honeymoon.

Heavy rain yesterday afternoon in southeast Florida follows flooding on the state’s west coast. Sarasota-Bradenton Airport set a new preliminary record for 1-hour rainfall, accumulating 100mm between 7pm and 8pm local time. They have been reported further 330mm of rain at an AccuWeather/Ambient Weather station.
