the initiative of the Animal Hospital of Ferrara – Telestense

Are veterinarians born or made? Whatever the answer, one thing is certain: it is a vocation that very often arises from an early age. And the event was aimed precisely at the little ones, which saw three classes of the “Smiling” nursery school in Ferrara dress roles of veterinary doctors. Thanks to the hospitality of the Ferrara Animal Hospital, a VetPartners Italia group facility, 30 children spent the days of June 12th and 13th taking care of the animals in the facility.

Together with the clinic team, the “little vets” discovered what it means to carry out this profession, starting with a visit to the facility and then continuing with real simulations of a clinical visit. All thanks to the patient collaboration of Shadow and Itan – canine mascots who, under the instructions of Dr. Rosaria Lia Francavilla and nurse Paola Menegatti, enlivened a veterinary physiotherapy session.

The agenda of appointments for the young doctors continued under the help of Dr. Barbara Sortini, Medical Director of the hospital, who explained step by step how a clinical visit takes place. The children soon had the opportunity to put into practice what they had learned: a litter of kittens and a brood of chicks had in fact recently arrived at the hospital.

With great delicacy they managed to certify the health of their peers from the animal world and thus earn the diploma of “Veterinarian for a day”, as well as a small souvenir for them and their teachers. Two intense educational days, which recalled the value of taking care of animals, for which the collaboration of the school director Caterina Azzini and the teachers Barbara, Juanita, Deborah and Philippa, together with the entire team of the Animal Hospital, was fundamental of Ferrara.
