The Rock got fired up on the set of The Smashing Machinea film by A24 which tells the life of the legendary MMA fighter Mark Kerr, his highs, his victories and loves and his fight against addiction.
The actor announced this in a video on Instagram in which he showed himself to his almost 400 million fans with a swelling in his elbow.
“I feel like I have a melon on my elbow. I got beat up on set quite a bit today” he added, recalling the advice of his father, the wrestler Rocky Johnson. “He always told me that a day without pain is like a day without sun“.
At the moment it is not clear how long production will be paused, but some investigations will be needed first: “There’s a lot of liquid, we’ll see what to do. I need to have it removed before I get an MRI“.
He then asked his users for advice:
I’ve been injured before… but if you have any advice on great anti-inflammatories, let me know.
He then showed off some medications before grabbing a bottle of his Teremana Tequila: “I’ve tried them all, this is my favorite anti-inflammatory. Here’s to the health of those fucking melons on your elbow. I feel like I’m already better“.
In fact, a surgeon came forward in the comments and explained:
It sounds like you have olecranon bursitis, this happens to my patients a lot. The best thing to do initially is to bandage the area, apply ice and take anti-inflammatories. I would avoid draining the liquid because it tends to reform and increase the risk of infection. It will take weeks for it to go away, but it should resolve unless you cause more trauma to the area, making the situation worse.
The Smashing Machine with The Rock does not yet have a release date.
