Abramo CC, Amaco and Trainees disputes – The unions ask for an urgent meeting with President Occhiuto

Following the recent unitary secretariats held by CGIL, CISL and UIL Calabriawe are turning to you to request an urgent meeting in order to address some of the main labor disputes still unresolved in our region. The situation has become unsustainable and the unit secretariats require immediate and decisive intervention from regional and national institutions.

The crisis that has hit the Abramo Customer Center seriously risks having very serious repercussions on workers and their families. Employees, who for years have guaranteed essential services with professionalism and dedication, now find themselves facing job and salary uncertainties. It is necessary to discuss possible solutions to guarantee employment continuity and safeguard jobs. We ask that all possible options be exploredincluding support measures and interventions to attract new investments in the sector.

The local public transport sector in Calabria faces chronic problems that undermine the quality of service and the safety of workers. A clear example of these difficulties is the company Amaco, which after its bankruptcy left 120 families in the limbo of an uncertain future. It is crucial to build a shared solution that safeguards employment levels, while ensuring quality city mobility.

The lack of resources, the age of the vehicles and the management difficulties are leading the sector to collapse. An intervention plan is urgently needed which includes investments aimed at renewing the vehicle fleet, training staff and reorganizing the service to meet the real needs of Calabrian citizens.
Furthermore, the issue of the remediation of polluted sites in the Crotone area by Eni is of fundamental importance. The environmental situation in these areas represents a serious threat to the health of citizens and the local ecosystem. It is essential that Eni speeds up the clean-up operations, while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and the safety of the workers involved.

We ask for a discussion to monitor the status of the works and discuss possible measures to mitigate the environmental and social impacts resulting from pollution.
Finally, the question of interns of social inclusion requires particular study. These workers represent a fundamental resource for our region, engaged in activities ranging from support in schools to social assistance services. However, the precariousness of their contractual conditions and the lack of future prospects make their commitment unsustainable. We ask that the possibility of stabilizing these working relationships be examined, recognizing the social and economic value of their work.
In light of the serious difficulties described and the strong social and economic impact that these problems entail, we believe a meeting with the President of the regional council is essential, Roberto Occhiuto, to discuss and agree on concrete and timely actions. We are certain that, with his intervention, it will be possible to identify shared paths that can lead to stable and lasting solutions.
