Ostuni, police van catches fire while driving on the highway

OSTUNI – A police van caught fire on the highway, while traveling in convoy with other vehicles. It happened this afternoon, Sunday 9 June 2024, on the state road that connects Brindisi to Bari. The driver of the vehicle, having realized the fire had started, promptly took the junction for Diana Marina – Villanova, and then pulled over. In this way he avoided any type of circulation problem.

It must be said that, fortunately, no injuries were reported. The vehicle was occupied by officers from the Turin police headquarters. A few days after the G7 in the Brindisi area, many police officers and soldiers from all over Italy are converging on the territory. Returning to the episode, the same officers made sure to avoid problems or dangers for passing motorists.

The firefighters of the Ostuni detachment intervened within minutes. The fire has been put out, but few parts of the Iveco Daily van remain unaffected by the flames. Local police officers from Ostuni, with territorial jurisdiction, went to the scene. The policemen from the White City police station also lent a hand.
