Lazio is the first region to guarantee the technological device for glycemic self-monitoring free of charge

A device that will be delivered to the home and which will monitor the weekly trend of the patient’s blood sugar This is a real game changer for type 1 and type 2 diabetes patients, who need frequent self-monitoring.”

“Lazio opens the doors of innovation to ensure a high and qualitative level of healthcare. We are proud to be the first Region in Italy to guarantee the technological device for instant glycemic self-monitoring free of charge to all patients suffering from diabetes, even to the less serious ones. We are working hard to significantly improve the quality of life of diabetic patients. In fact, this measure is not isolated type I. The only drug which, in case of severe hypoglycemia, allows the patient’s blood sugar level to be re-established with a simple spray into the nose, even in non-healthcare environments, starting from the school world”. declared Francesco Rocca, president of the Lazio Region”.

The prescription of SMBT devices, with the related consumption, can be carried out exclusively by diabetologists and endocrinologist specialists, including pediatric ones.

Below are the centers authorized to prescribe devices for continuous blood glucose monitoring:

• the San Giovanni Addolorata hospital, through the simple departmental operational unit of Endocrinology and Diabetology in via San Giovanni Laterano 155;
• the Sant’Andrea hospital with the simple operating unit of Diabetology in via Grotta Rossa 1035;
• the Policlinico Umberto I, through the Diabetology and cardiovascular prevention service and the Diabetology centre;
• the local health company of Latina, through the complex university diabetology operational unit of the Santa Maria Goretti hospital in the capital and the diabetology and endocrinology clinics in Gaeta of the Salita dei Cappuccini headquarters;
• the local health authority of Frosinone with the simple departmental operational unit of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases of the Fabrizio Spaziani hospital;
• the local health authority of Viterbo, through the simple departmental operational unit of the adult diabetes center in via Enrico Fermi 15;
• the local health authority of Rieti, through the simple departmental operational unit of the San Camillo de Lellis hospital;
• the local health company Roma 1 with the complex operational unit of Diabetology and Dietetics of the Imre clinic in via Angelico 28 and the Nuovo Regina Margherita clinic in via Emilio Morosini 30;
• the local health company Roma 2, through the complex operational unit of Diabetology of the Sandro Pertini hospital and of Endocrinology of the Andrea Alesini orthopedic trauma centre, the Case della Salute in via Antistio 15, in via della Tenuta di Torrenova 130, in Santa Cateria della Rosa in via Nicolò Forteguerri and via Sabatini, the clinics of Casalbertone and Nocera Umbra in Largo De Dominicis 11 and in via Nocera Umbra;
• the local health company Roma 4, via the simple departmental operational unit of the San Paolo hospital in Civitavecchia;
• the local health company Roma 5 with the diabetes clinics of the Leopoldo Parodi Delfino hospitals in Colleferro and San Giovanni Evangelista in Tivoli;
• the local health company Roma 6, through the simple multidisciplinary medical departmental operational unit of the Marino hospital and the Diabetology centers of Anzio in via Aldobrandini and Ariccia in via delle Cerquette 2;
• the Fatebenefratelli Isola Tiberina hospital, through the complex operational unit of Endocrinology and Diabetology in via Ponte Quattro Capi 39;
• the Campus Biomedico university hospital with the complex operational unit of Endocrinology and Diabetology;
• the Israelite hospital, through the metabolic diseases and endocrinopathies operational unit;
• the Agostino Gemelli University Hospital, through the Diabetology service and the simple Endocrine-Metabolic Pathology operational unit in Largo Gemelli 8;
• the Association of Italian Knights of the Military Sovereign with the Diabetology Centre.

The prescription is also available in the following pediatric centers:

• the local health authority Viterbo, through the simple pediatric diabetology operational unit in via Enrico Fermi 15;
