A tragic road accident occurred last night on the road that connects Ragusa to Modica, shortly after the Costanzo bridge. The collision involved a motorbike and a Renault Clio, causing the death of two people and the injury of the driver of the car.
The victims are Giovanni Cascone, 57 years old, and Angela Polizzi, 53 years old, both residents of Ragusa. Husband and wife were traveling on their motorbike when the violent head-on collision with the Renault Clio occurred.
The driver of the car was a 28-year-old girl from Modica, who was injured in the accident. Her condition is under observation after she was transferred to hospital.
Husband and wife were both music teachers. They had spent the evening in Scicli, from where they were returning from a meeting with friends.
The police immediately intervened at the scene of the accident to carry out the necessary investigations and try to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the collision. The firefighters were called to provide assistance and make the area safe.
Authorities are currently investigating to determine the causes of the accident. According to initial reconstructions, it seems that the clash was particularly violent, but at the moment the details on how it happened are not yet clear. The clash was head-on. Unfortunately there was nothing that could be done for motorcyclists.
