ROME – Lorenzo Simonelli dominated the final of the 110 meters hurdles at the European Athletics Championships currently being held at the Olympic stadium in Rome. The blue, who beat the Spaniard Enrique Llopis and the Swiss Jason Joseph, recorded the new Italian record in the specialty, crossing the finish line with a time of 13.07. Simonelli he was the protagonist of an extraordinary year, having already brought home the silver medal in the 60 hurdles World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow. On that occasion he dedicated his success to his mother.

A few weeks ago he set the Italian record in the 110 hurdles at the Nancy meeting in France, achieving a time of 13″27. Record broken today. 21 years old, lives in Rome in Eur and trains at Acqua Acetosa. Before moving to the capital he lived the first five years of his life in Tanzania, in the company of his father, a researcher and anthropologist. In 2010 he attended the Army plant at Cecchignola in Rome, practicing swimming until middle school, before dedicating himself permanently to athletics. Simonelli is a fan of the One Piece manga, as he revealed on the occasion of the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow.
