Sweden dominates the regattas today
Second day of racing for the 36th “Marco Rizzotti Trophy – International Optimist Class Team Race Venice”, organized by the Compagnia della Vela and the Diporto Velico Veneziano.
A 90 ina of the kids set off from the “Ottavio Ghetti” Competitive Sports Center of the Compagnia della Vela in Punta Sabbioni in the municipality of Cavallino Treporti, the nautical base and secretariat of the event.
The morning started with little wind, but then it increased during the day allowing 37 matches to take place, which added to yesterday’s saw the boys involved in almost 100 matches in two days.
Team Sweden tops the partial ranking, followed by Slovenia and in third place are the 2023 champions, Team Happy from the USA, to whom we asked for a quick comment at the end of the race: “I still don’t know how we are positioned – he commented one of the American guys – but I think good. They spent a lot to get us here, so hopefully we come back with the trophy!”
Games still open, last day of regattas tomorrow and at 7pm the awards ceremony at the Camping Village Marina in Venice.

THE RIZZOTTI TROPHY
An international invitational regatta, aimed at teams for the Optimist class, which takes place outside the harbor entrance of the Lido of Venice.
It is one of the most prestigious team regattas in the world reserved for young people aged 10 to 15, which this year sees 18 teams competing to win the trophy won last year by the USA with Team Happy.
