An explosion occurred early Saturday morning in Parrano, a village in the Orvieto area in the province of Terni. The incident happened in a house in Pievelunga, a small hamlet located about six kilometers from Parrano. At the origin there would be a gas leak. The police, firefighters and 118 operators intervened on site. Investigations are underway to precisely reconstruct the causes.
A note from the firefighters of the provincial command of Terni reconstructs what happened: «At 7.06 on Saturday morning – we read – the team from the Orvieto detachment went out due to an explosion that occurred in a building in Pievelunga of Parrano. A 75-year-old woman was involved with various burns and has already been entrusted to the 118 staff. According to initial reports, there were no other people involved and the explosion, apparently caused by a gas leak, caused the house to almost completely collapse. two floors above ground”. The resulting fire also affected a car parked nearby. In addition to the 115 personnel from Orvieto, fellow firefighters from Città della Pieve intervened on site.
The 75-year-old resident of the collapsed house was rescued by 118 personnel and airlifted with ‘Nibbio’ to the ‘Santa Maria Misericordia’ hospital in Perugia in very serious conditions – ‘code red’ – with burns on over 70% of her body. as well as vertebral fractures.
