The double kidnapping
The operation was conducted by the Varese Financial Police and led to the arrest of the man. The expedition from which the operation started was intercepted at Cargo City, the hub reserved for the movement of goods at Malpensa airport. The package arrived from the United States and contained one and a half kilos of marijuana resin.
Subsequently the financiers moved to the man’s house to continue with the search. Here they also found and seized codeine syrup – another medicine which, if taken in excessive doses, can have excitatory effects – and the four cans of nitrous oxide. Chinese was arrested on charges of international drug trafficking, on the orders of the Busto Arsizio prosecutor’s office.
What is nitrous oxide
Also known as “laughing gas”, in healthcare it is used as an anesthetic. It also has industrial use, as a propellant in whipping cream cans and sprays. Widespread for some time – but, apparently, with some growth in recent months – is its use as a “recreational drug”: gas is inhaled causing narcotic high.
The effects, usually short-lived, are dizziness, sound distortion, euphoria and a tingling sensation throughout the body.
