Casal di Principe, 8 June – Gunshots were fired by one or two unknown persons last night in Piazza Mercato in Casal di Principe (Caserta), a municipality where the polls open at 3pm also for the renewal of the city administration. The police are investigating the episode and have so far found some 9×21 caliber shell casings in the square.
The shots were probably fired in the air, and no damage to people or things was reported. Investigators are examining surveillance camera footage. It is not yet clear what the motive for the gesture may have been.
