Green light from the Regional Council to update the three-year plan for the soil protection interventions 2024-2026 which defines the priority needs in relation to financial availability and on the basis of the requests made by the Municipalities, each accompanied by a technical-economic feasibility project. The interventions are aimed at securing or mitigating risks, at the river redevelopment of watercourses or the slopes that weigh on them, at the restoration of compromised defense works whose loss of efficiency can lead to high risks and, more specifically general, to the extraordinary maintenance of consolidation and defense works.
In particular, these are 109 new requests for financing, mostly for structural interventions and extraordinary maintenance, to which are added some requests for studies, monitoring or planning.

“Liguria has been on the podium for some years among the most virtuous regions at a national level in terms of spending capacity of the resources allocated on the topic of soil defense and the fight against hydrogeological instability – declares the regional councilor for Soil Defense Giacomo Giampedrone. – Updating this plan is essential to have a framework of priority needs available with a series of strategic interventions ready to start, all being accompanied by the relevant technical-economic feasibility project. Thanks to this preparation, to date we have carried out hundreds of interventions that have made our territory much safer than in the past and more ‘resilient’, that is, capable of better supporting, with less damage, the possible impact of future calamitous events”.

The requests made concern the entire territory and relate to structural interventions (for example works to increase the resilience or hydraulic arrangement of some streams, for example through the construction of bank defenses or embankments, works to secure slopes along municipal roads or consolidation of landslides) and extraordinary maintenance (for example for hydraulic adaptation works of streams or seabed stabilization and restoration of embankments to counteract erosion, works to combat hydrogeological instability).
