With certain (road) beasts it is better to be careful. Otherwise, it really only takes a moment to lose control and ruin them. The owner of the Porsche 911 GT3 will think twice the next time he fully presses the accelerator pedal and ends up in the river. He couldn’t wait to test its limits anymore and, so, as soon as he left the dealership, he seems to have gone crazy with joy. As if he were the secret cousin of Dom Toretto from Fast & Furious, he “unleashed” the over 500 HP (502, to be exact) of the Zuffenhausen car. And in hindsight he must have regretted his shamelessness.

In all likelihood, the salesman had also given him advice on how to master sports driving, if only he had listened to them. Too elated at the idea of using it, his only goal was to feel like a pilot. It’s a shame that the drivers, the real ones, have experience and talent, acquired and honed in the field. The accident occurred on Monday evening in Switzerland, on the banks of the Limmat river, in the municipality of Schlieren, not far from Zurich. Following the accident, the authorities were immediately contacted to recover the vehicle, about a kilometer from the point of sale. Subsequent investigations will allow us to establish in detail what went wrong.

However, according to the reconstruction of some witnesses, the driver had just picked up the car. As soon as he got the keys, he started the engine and off he went into action. “He accelerated like he was crazy,” assures a person present on the scene. He added a detail: the Porsche was on the verge of overturning before ending up in the water. In the subsequent investigations it will be up to him to draw conclusions, but, according to the initial thesis, a “pendulum” braking would have occurred, usually following a sharp acceleration. And the evidence collected so far leads us to think so, including the tire tracks found on the asphalt. Add this to the characteristics of the street, Chlosterstrasse, which is quite narrow, and there is little to be surprised about.

Emotion would have played tricks and it’s easy to imagine why: with its 502 horsepower, the 992 GT3 gives shivers. From 0 to 100 km/h it takes 2.7 seconds and not everyone can afford it. In fact, it costs around 184,000 euros, a wealth often only after many years of hard work. Little or nothing is known about the driver. While the people of the web are wondering if he is some VIP (or son of an artist), there is some positive news: no one was hurt. Neither the 23-year-old nor the alleged 17-year-old next to him escaped unharmed. Just a bad blow, and an associated scare. The episode leads us to ask ourselves whether it is not appropriate to introduce a special license for large-engined cars.
