The Acolyte: with 4.8 million views in one day it is the biggest Disney+ launch of 2024

The Acolyte (review here), the new Disney+ series dedicated to Star Wars, reached 4.8 million views in its first day of availability. According to Disney, this is the biggest product launch of 2024 on the platform. For Ahsokathe most recent Star Wars series, an exact first-day viewing total is not available, although Disney reported that it took five days to reach 14 million views.

This is an average of 2.8 million viewers per day, 2 million less than at the launch of The Acolyte (a “view” is calculated by dividing the number of hours of viewing each title by its duration). Now all that remains is to wait to see how the next six episodes of the series, which will be released on a weekly basis, will be received. Certainly, this first data is an important result for the franchise.

The Acolyte: The Follower is set at the end of the High Republic era in a world of “dark secrets and emerging powers of the dark side,” approximately 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999). A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they face are more sinister than they ever anticipated.

In the cast of TV series protagonists are Amandla Stenberg as a former padawan, Lee Jung Jae as Jedi Master, Manny Giacinto, Dafne Keen like a young Jedi, Jodie Turner-SmithRebecca Henderson as Vernestra Rwoh, a Jedi Knight prodigy.
