Middle school students traffic police for a day – TraniLive.it

“Moral” fines for rude motorists. The ones who raised them were not the local police officers but the students of the “Bovio” and “Giustina Rocca” middle schools who this morning left their desks for a few hours to support the officers during their control activities. The initiative is the final phase of a school project aimed at giving children lessons in civil, as well as environmental, road and first aid education. In total there were 40 high “fines”, simple pieces of information that refer to respect for common life. The boys knew perfectly well who their fines would go to. «What was exciting – said the councilor for the local police, Cecilia Di Lernia – was seeing the pupils indicate to the officers which cars were prohibited, with particular attention to the stalls for the disabled and the pedestrian crossings, precisely because we had explained to them the importance of taking care of themselves, and therefore of others.” The project has seen several lessons over the past few weeks within the Baldassarre, Rocca and Bovio schools, for a total of eighty students. The practical lesson for the Baldassarre children is scheduled for September. «The important fact is that during all the lessons the kids took notes on everything and today they put it into practice».
