Brescia flood, in Valsabbia a river of mud roads invaded by water in Vobarno

An afternoon to forget for the community of Vobarno. Yet another rain in the Brescia area has created serious inconveniences Valsabbia. This afternoon, Tuesday 4 June, around 5pm, a river of mud and debris invaded the streets of Vobarno. It all started in the C0llio area, in via del Rio where the Rio Traversante stream flooded. Thus the water overwhelmed cars and flooded homes and shops. Fear among the inhabitants of the town in Brescia, even if fortunately there were no injured or missing people. The hamlet of Degagna is currently isolated due to a landslide.

Since the evening, however, municipal workers, volunteers and fire brigade personnel have been busy clearing the road arteries from the dirt and mud carried by the force of the water. But the intense wave of bad weather that hit Valsabbia in the afternoon also created some discomfort in theUpper Garda. In Salò and to be precise in the hilly hamlet of Serniga, more or less on the border with the territory of Gardone Riviera, a landslide occurred.

In recent days the rains have also put the agricultural fields to the test Lower Brescia, as two farmers said. «The situation is quite serious because the little corn that we managed to sow is in critical condition due to the excess rain and unfortunately there have already been events in which the corn was damaged by hail», underlined Giovanni Martinelli, vice-president of Coldiretti Brescia and livestock breeder from Borgo San Giacomo. “The situation is truly critical, especially for those who have farms and therefore have to find food to meet the needs of their animals.” «Due to the heavy rains, the corn sowing started late – adds Giuseppe Ruggeri, member of the Coldiretti Brescia council and owner of the Malgherosse farm in Verolanuova – the corn already sown is unable to grow because the fields are covered in water».
