PARIS (France) – Jannik Sinner wins his quarter-final match with authority and takes the pass for his first semi-final at Roland Garros as well as the 3rd in his career in slam tournaments, all as the new number 1 in the world. The Italian tennis player defeated the number 10 in the world Grigor Dimitrov with the score of 6-2, 6-4, 7-6(3) in 2 hours and 30 minutes a match where the South Tyrolean was almost perfect. From the first game to the last Sinner was relentless in his serves (only one missed pass in the 10th game of the 3rd set when he went to serve for the match) and constant from the baseline showing the best of his tennis to technical and mental solidity as in the 3rd set when he didn’t get upset after losing serve and then winning in the tie-break.
The world number 2 is the first semi-finalist of the Parisian slam and tonight he will meet his opponent who will emerge from the super challenge between Carlos Alcaraz And Stefanos Tsitsipas (8.15pm). On the other side of the board Caper Ruud is already in the semifinals after Djokovic’s forfeit and is waiting for the winner of Zverev-DeMinaur.

Sinner-Dimitrov: the precedents
Number 10 in the ATP rankings, Sinner’s next opponent has reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros for the first time in his career. Along the way he has overcome Aleksandar Kovacevic, Fabian Marozsan, Zizou Bergs And Hubert Hurkacz. The Bulgarian now aims to reach the last semifinal of a Slam missing in his career: in his CV he boasts those of Wimbledon in 2014, the Australian Open in 2017 and the US Open in 2019. Sinner and Dimitrov find themselves facing each other to the other for the 4th time.
The last clash refers to the match on March 31st at the Masters 1000 in Miami, when Sinner won with a score of 6-3, 6-1. The other two matches were held in 2023, first at the ATP 500 in Beijing and then in the round of 32 of the tournament in Florida. On both occasions it was the blue who qualified. Only one success therefore for the tennis player born in 1991, who beat Sinner in a comeback at the 2020 Italian Internationals.
