5th Meeting of the Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco 15 and 16 June

The 5th Meeting of the Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco will be held on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June in the Place du Palais Princier.

Over the centuries, the Grimaldis have created ties and settled in many regions of France and Italy. The Princes of Monaco are the Duc de Valentinois, the Marquis des Baux, the Comte de Carladès, the Baron de Saint-Lô, d’Hambye, the Comte de Longjumeau… These titles were acquired following diplomatic agreements or marital alliances, and nearly 150 sites are linked to the Grimaldi family.

To maintain ties between former “fiefdoms” that share a common past with the Principality, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco regularly visits these municipalities. In 2018, according to his wish, the 1st Meeting of the Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco was held in the Place du Palais with around ten municipalities and territories linked to his family.

This year, the Federation of Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco invited two French municipalities, Breil-sur-Roya and Bathernay, and 10 Italian municipalities: Ventimiglia, Olivetta San Michele, Airole, Ripacandida, Campagna, Monteverde, Spinazzola, Poggiorsini, Terlizzi and Canosa di Puglia.

The event will be characterized by conviviality and sharing. There will be many activities for adults and children, including cultural events, tastings, folk dances, meetings with local artists and artisans, pony rides, street games, farmyard animals and much more.
Each of the host locations will showcase their historical links to the Principality, as well as their regional and cultural heritage.
