Pucci (CISL Siena): “Heard little about Europe. It is urgent to accelerate the path of economic and social integration”

“Less than seven days before the European elections we have heard little about Europe and change in this electoral campaign. Europe must change. She can no longer plod along, remain on the defensive as she has done until now. As it is structured, the European Union risks not being a protagonist and competitive on the global scene. We must bring industrial policies back to the center of the discussion in a more relevant way, giving value to work. This is why we need a Europe that tells, represents and is closer to the life and work of its citizens.” This was underlined by Riccardo Pucci, general secretary of CISL Siena in view of the European elections of 8 and 9 June 2024.

“A constituent Europe where useful and necessary reforms must be implemented. The role of the future Parliament as a single legislative seat while it is urgent to accelerate on the path of economic and social integration, towards the realization of political unity and the United States of Europe. To make the Union more efficient, cohesive, supportive and representative. Stronger, more authoritative and incisive on the world political scene. For this reason, Europe will have to listen and pay attention to many new situations such as the management of PNRR funds close to expiring in 2026, new issues such as Green Deal, ecological transition, digital, artificial intelligence but without all the change and economic investment both at the expense of citizens. Let us remember that the New Generation ends in 2026, it must not be interrupted, but new extraordinary forms of financing must be identified”.

“As our national secretary Luigi Sbarra said, “now it is important that whoever will be present in Europe represents Italy with an Agenda that will decide the growth and future of the country”. Precisely from our proposal, shared by all the parties in government, there must also be a new European participation, with a more participatory role for our nation. A Labor Pact must be created that has training, employment and social protection at its centre.”
