The complaint has been filed against the 59-year-old man who caused panic in Comiso yesterday by threatening to explode a gas cylinder with a lighter.
The alarm was raised by the neighbors who called the police and the Carabinieri. The man, in a very agitated state, insulted and threatened the patrol officers and the Carabinieri who evacuated the area and began to negotiate with the man, trying to make him desist from his intent.
Also on site was Dr. Giovanni Arcidiacono, director of the Vittoria police station, who together with his other colleagues succeeded in the desperate attempt to bring everything back to normal and avoid a tragedy.
“I express feelings of esteem and great appreciation to Dr. Arcidiacono, to the Police Officers and to the soldiers of the Arma for the courage shown in carrying out their work” declared the mayor of Vittoria, Francesco Aiello.
Eventually the man was then accompanied to the police station. He has various police records and will be reported at large for resisting a public official and making threats. The reasons behind his insane gesture are not known.
