“His was a noble gesture. A lesson for all of us.” With these words Mariagrazia Braglia, head teacher of the Zanelli agricultural institute in Reggio Emilia, wants to underline the great act of generosity that pushed Giacomo Olivieri to stop to help when he saw a person in difficulty. The professors of the institute, which he attended until his third year (2017), mourn him. And, to solemnly remember him, on the last day of school the principal and the teachers, together with the students, will stop to pay homage to his memory: the moment of mourning and remembrance dedicated to Giacomo will be on the occasion of the awards ceremony for students who have distinguished themselves.

Olivieri, just 24 years old, was returning from a wedding, in the night between Saturday and Sunday, around 2am: he stopped because he saw a girl in difficulty (the young woman had hit a porcupine with her car and ended up off the road) , got out and started clearing the road from the remains of the animal and various debris. At that moment, another car arrived and hit him head-on. Unfortunately there was nothing that could be done for him. The Mirandola traffic police investigates.

Giacomo was passionate about basketball and horses. Originally from Formigine (Modena), he worked at Bofrost in Reggio Emilia. He leaves behind his parents and two brothers.
