The “Medaglie d’Oro” neighborhood committee asks for a meeting with Mayor Cannito

«The neighborhood committee spontaneously created as the legitimate representative of the residents and parish priests of the Good Shepherd community, urgently requests – also pursuant to the municipal statute – a meeting with the Mayor, the Councilor for the Environment and the other subjects for the respective expertise in the matter”. Thus the representatives of the committee in a note.

«The reason for this request is the serious situation of public green areas in general and of trees in particular in our neighbourhood, which has reached alarming levels of criticality for environmental health and public safety.
On 06/01/2024, at 9:00 am, a serious accident occurred which resulted in the fall of a large branch which could have caused a tragedy as reported by all the media.

For over 20 years we have been denouncing the poor maintenance of public green areas and in particular of trees, so much so that we count the Medaglie d’Oro district as the most decimated in the city panorama due to the cutting of trees with large foliage and tall trunks which occurred over time in addition to pathogenic events on various tree species.
Therefore, and in consideration of the above, we ask for an immediate discussion at the level of the municipal administration to obtain certain and concrete answers on the measures that the Administration intends to adopt to resolve this situation.

We hope for a prompt response and a timely meeting to discuss and resolve these urgent issues.”
