After the renewal until 2028 with Fiorentina, the Argentine central defender Lucas Martinez Quarta spoke to the official channels of the Viola club: “I’ve been waiting for the renewal for a long time. We already started talking about it with Joe Barone, who was an important figure for this signing. I have been in Florence for 4 years now, a city to which my family and I are very attached. I would have liked to do this interview with the cup in the middle but unfortunately that’s how it went. I renewed because Fiorentina believed in me from day one. It’s a growing team and I want to be part of this growth. Now the challenge is to recover from the blow suffered in Athens.”
Rewinding the tape of your season, what do you find?
“From a goal-scoring point of view, I managed to help the team and I’m happy about that. I don’t know if I’ll be able to repeat myself next year, I hope so.”
Feelings after the final in Athens?
“We are all disappointed because we wanted so much to win the Cup. It was a beautiful journey and we deserved a different epilogue, both us and our fans. Today the promises are useless, but we will try to make up for it next year. My dream is to bring Fiorentina to high levels and to win a trophy.”
