Research by the University of Bologna on extra virgin olive oil and other types in PET and glass bottles – produced in Spain and Italy – has highlighted a high presence of microplastics
The University of Bologna, as reported by TeatroNaturale, has investigated for the first time the presence of microplastics in various edible vegetable oils (oil extra virgin olive oil, oil oliveoil of seeds and mixed oil) in bottles Of Pet And glassproduced in Italy And Spain.

The microplastics observed, being the majority of them fragments (81.2%), had dimensions of 100 microm (77.5%) and mainly composed of polyethylene (50.3%) e polypropylene (28.7%), among others.
