The terrible toll is three dead and three seriously injured accident which occurred a few hours ago along the A12 motorway, at the Rosignano toll booth.
The fatal accident
The crash involving three different cars occurred shortly after 1pm today, Sunday 2 June. Investigators are still working to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the tragedy: it seems that the accident was triggered by a car that crashed at full speed into two other cars stopped at the toll booth in Rosignano Marittimo. The four-wheeled vehicles struck would then have overturned, and one of the two would have literally run over the toll booth.
The alarm was raised immediately after the terrible crash: the witnesses contacted 112 to ask for rapid intervention on the spot, triggering rescue. Soon the firefighters arrived at the Rosignano Marittimo toll booth, two ambulances from Cecina and Rosignano with the doctor on board, an ambulance from the Misericordia di Montenero with a nurse, two other emergency vehicles sent from the neighboring municipalities and the Pegasus helicopter.
The firefighters immediately went into action to extract the victims of the terrible crash from the wreckage. The toll is three dead, and six injured, transported to hospital. Among the injured were also two little brothers aged 3 and 6. Three people are in serious condition and were transferred under code red to the Livorno hospital.
Obviously the police closed the stretch between Rosignano Marittimo and the Rosignano barrier in both directions to allow rescuers to intervene: this led to inevitable repercussions on the traffic of the Tirrenica.
The reconstruction
According to what has been reconstructed so far by investigators, it was the car driven by a pair of men who crashed at high speed into the two vehicles in the queue. German spouses. After the violent impact, the car overturned, also damaging the toll booth structure. The person inside the shed was unharmed. It was the two foreigners who lost their lives. The other victim, however, is of Italian nationality. She was in one of the cars involved in the crash.
The illness hypothesis
Apparently the German woman who does
