TRENT. The “Mensa della Provvidenza” of Trento, after thirty years, leaves the historic headquarters of the former convent of the Capuchin friars in Cervara and will have a new headquarters: from September, in fact, it will be moved downtown to the current Caritas Listening Center in via Giusti.
The new structure will be affected shortly by important adaptation workto be able to host a refectory capable of hosting from autumn continue to welcome people in need, with a new area also intended for familiesnew kitchens and more adequate service spaces.
The decision to move has already been communicated – in a meeting attended by the delegate of the Testimony and Social Commitment Area Don Mauro Leonardelli and the director of the Caritas Foundation Fabio Chiari – to the numerous volunteers who take turns preparing and distributing the evening meal currently benefiting, on average, 120 mostly homeless people.
Moving the canteen will also allow Capuchin friarsas they expressly requested in recent months, to dispose of the entire property complex and to allocate the former convent to the purposes they deem most appropriate, with the religious who they will make a gift to the Diocesefor the new structure, of vehicles and all equipmentcurrently in use for the canteen.
The most important aspect, however, is that, in via Giustithe poorest people will be able to continue knock on the door of the “Canteen of Providence”whose name will not change.
