Fire of a’car this morning in the cemetery parking lot of Salento fields. Around 10am, an old-style Fiat 500, owned by a local lady, caught fire due to spontaneous combustion. The woman had just arrived near the cemetery when she noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment.
The rescue
Despite his fright, he had the foresight to stop the car and get out. There were moments of panic as the 500 was now on fire near numerous other vehicles parked in the area. A patrol from the local police of Campi Salentina immediately intervened on the scene, ensuring the entire area was made safe, blocking road traffic.
A unit from the Veglie Red Helmets detachment then arrived in Campi and put out the flames. The 500 was then removed from the road. Fortunately there were no consequences for people or other cars.
