Costanzo (Ur Basilicata) intervenes on yet another fatal accident at work in Ruvo del Monte.
The Ur Basilicata Regional Secretary, Florence Costanzo comments on the silent massacres that are recorded every day: “We don’t have time to celebrate a funeral as we cyclically learn about another. How many more expressions of solidarity do we have to express to the families of the victims and the injured? Enough! – the Ugl trade unionist thunders loudly – we believe that it is unbearable to continue to see the list of people who have lost their lives at work grow longer. And here is yet another fatal accident at work in Ruvo del Monte (PZ): a truck went off the road at the entrance to a quarry, the driver was crushed. Rescuers are present on site to register the victim and ascertain the causes. A massacre, a silent daily massacre that the Basilicata Region is recording: a list of lives broken at work, as if we were in perpetual war. What’s not working? Whatever the outcome of the investigations, not all the workers who go to work in the morning and return home in a coffin will be brought back to life. The linear cuts to investments in worker safety, the rampant scourge of undeclared work – concludes Costanzo: so let’s say enough once again!
