Carini is shocked by the death of Tommaso Di Giacomo, the 22-year-old boy who died in a road accident on state road 187, near the junction that leads to Buseto Palizzolo. Tommy, as he was known in the village, died when his Peugeot 3008 crashed into a wall. The impact occurred around 12.30 yesterday near a petrol station.
The dynamics of the accident
According to an initial reconstruction, the Peugeot driven by the young man ended up against a wall, after the impact with a Fiat Panda which was entering the state road coming from a side street. The impact was fatal and the young man died. The rescuers, alerted immediately, were unable to do anything except confirm his death. Carabinieri and firefighters also arrived on site. The incident is being investigated.
Messages of condolence
The news made the rounds on social media, and shocked and saddened friends posted dozens of messages to remember the 22-year-old: “A very good boy, I’m speechless”, wrote Tommaso on Facebook; “I’m shocked, I have no words,” says Simona; “Another life lost too soon”, Angela’s message; “Tommy, the earth feels light on you”, comments Erika. Tommaso Di Giacomo was born in Palermo, attended the Vilfredo Pareto technical-commercial institute in the Sicilian capital, and then moved to Carini. The body is currently in the Buseto Palizzolo cemetery, waiting to be brought home.
The mortal in the Ragusa area
A few days ago yet another fatal accident on Sicilian roads. On provincial road 17, Vittoria-Scoglitti, a collision occurred between two Fiat Pandas. A young mother living in Acate lost her life. Due to the violent impact, there was nothing that could be done for the 47-year-old woman. The 44-year-old woman driving the other car was injured in the accident and was admitted to the Guzzardi hospital in Vittoria and released after a few hours.
