Fire in an apartment in Castelnuovo, firefighters put out the flames and rescue a cat

The Prato firefighters intervened this morning in Castelnuovo due to a fire inside a house. The flames, the causes of which are being ascertained, broke out in the kitchen and only emergency response prevented them from spreading further. At the time of the events, there was only one cat inside the house; the firefighters took her outside and also provided initial treatment by administering oxygen. The feline was subsequently taken into care by LAV volunteers, thanks to a protocol signed last December at a national level. The technical officer of the Via Paronese command also intervened on site to carry out a static check of the premises, which were rendered unusable due to the damage caused by smoke and heat.

The cat taken care of by LAV, whose volunteers arrived on site within 5 minutes of receiving the emergency call, is hospitalized in an oxygen room at a veterinary clinic. She is a 15 year old kitten named Tina. The owner of the apartment, who was immediately contacted, had left home a couple of hours ago to go to work. The lady’s son, contacted, immediately reached the kitten at the veterinary clinic.

“Whoever saves a life saves the whole world, and for us at LAV every life is worth it. This is why we have an emergency unit always ready to intervene where necessary, and the protocol signed last December with the Fire Brigade will allow us to save even more, being able to count on staff trained and informed of our presence” declared Cristiano Giannessi , manager of the LAV office in Prato and who intervened on the scene of the fire with the veterinary ambulance.

“Now we will take care of Tina: she is already in the clinic, under close veterinary observation, and will receive the best care and all the love she needs, waiting for her human family to get their home back on track” concluded Giannessi.
The prognosis is still reserved and the next few hours will be decisive for his health. LAV, in agreement with the family, will cover the costs of veterinary care, given the huge expenses that Tina’s family will have to face to recover the apartment destroyed in the fire.
