The Italian Federation of Sport Fishing, Underwater Activities and Finswimming (FIPSAS) has launched an initiative to clean the beaches and seabed in Lazio, involving technicians, members and volunteers to preserve the marine environment of the region.

A concrete gesture for the protection of the marine ecosystem

The event, scheduled for June 5, 2024, involves cleaning interventions along the Lazio coast, from Civitavecchia to Circeo. Participants will dedicate themselves to the removal of waste present on beaches and seabeds, promoting voluntary actions such as the “Pulifondoali” and “Pulispiagge” projects.

Collaborations and objectives of the initiative

FIPSAS has established important collaborations with organizations and companies sensitive to the protection of the marine environment, such as Rai, the Coast Guard and Suzuki. The President, Prof. Ugo Claudio Matteoli, underlines the importance of raising citizens’ awareness of respect for the natural marine habitat and the urgent need to preserve it.

Impact and future prospects

The initiative, which involves more than forty locations in Italy, has already made it possible to remove over 170 quintals of waste in the previous year alone. With the 2024 edition, FIPSAS aims to double the amount of waste collected, promoting responsible and sustainable behavior in coastal areas.
